I recently completed a ductwork repair job for a client's forced air system. Upon arrival, I performed static pressure testing which revealed excessive air leakage from the return duct runs in the attic. Using a Malco TurboShear, I cut out the damaged sections and replaced them with R6 insulated flex duct secured with plastic Panduit strap tensioners. All new ductwork was properly suspended from the trusses using galvanized hangars on 4ft centers. Air leaks were then sealed using Hardcast tape and mastic. Finally, I rebalanced the system using a TrueFlow air meter to ensure proper airflow and minimize static pressure. This has significantly improved the system's efficiency and comfort.
